The Role
The Engineering Manager leads multiple cross-functional engineering teams responsible for the development, performance and ongoing operation of Pepperstone's core trading platform, including the Order Management System (OMS), trading integrations and platform services. This role is accountable for translating the Trading Platform vision and roadmap into high-quality engineering outcomes, while ensuring the platform is fast, stable, scalable and secure. The Engineering Manager owns platform performance, reliability, and delivery excellence, and is responsible for building high-performing technical teams operating under a build-and-run model executing high-quality, low latency, scalable, secure trading capabilities at pace. They work closely with Product, SRE, Cloud, Security, Data and Commerical teams to ensure the trading platform consistently delivers high-quality client and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and develop cross-functional engineering teams across OMS, integrations and trading platform services, including engineers, QA and technical leads, fostering a high-performance, accountable and collaborative culture
• Own end-to-end platform performance, including order execution latency, throughput, concurrency handling and market data delivery, ensuring systems meet strict performance and reliability targets
• Drive platform stability and operational excellence, reducing incident frequency and severity, improving mean time to recovery, and embedding strong incident management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement practices
• Translate trading platform strategy and roadmap into actionable engineering deliverables, ensuring clear prioritisation, alignment and execution across multiple teams and stakeholders
• Oversee the design, development, testing and deployment of platform changes, ensuring all releases meet production readiness standards, including performance, security and resilience requirements
• Define and evolve scalable, low-latency architecture, establishing clear service boundaries across OMS, integration layers and platform orchestration services
• Lead scaling initiatives to support significant platform growth, including capacity planning, horizontal scaling strategies, performance optimisation and efficient inter-service communication patterns
• Own the build-and-run operating model, ensuring teams are accountable for both delivery and live operations, including on-call rotations, monitoring, alerting and system health
• Establish and continuously improve engineering delivery practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release management and deployment strategies
• Champion modern engineering practices and standards, including code quality, design patterns, observability, resilience engineering and secure development practices

The role reports to the Head of Trading Platforms, based in London, UK.

About you
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in an Engineering Manager (or equivalent leadership) role within an agile, product-led environment
• Proven experience leading engineering teams in complex, distributed system environments, with exposure to both backend platforms and client-facing systems
• Strong domain experience in ultra low-latency, high-throughput systems, ideally within trading, fintech, betting or gaming environments
• Deep technical expertise in backend engineering, with strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin or Go, and a strong understanding of performance optimisation and concurrency

The Role

Job Responsibilities
• Build and own the strategic product roadmap for payment offers, taking product concepts from ideation through validation, launch, measurement, and iteration.
• Define and measure product and monetization success, using data and analytics to inform priorities and evaluate impact.
• Champion best practices for financial data management, analytics, and user experience within the payment offers.
• Lead constant analysis and optimization of purchase flows for different customer segments, leveraging personalization and localization to improve revenue.
• Operate with an agile, iterative mindset and use rapid experimentation to prototype, test and optimize our product offering effectiveness across different cohorts.
• Clearly articulate product strategy, priorities, and tradeoffs to stakeholders and leadership, driving alignment and informed decision-making.
Job requirements
• 3 years of product management experience with a track record of deliverables ideally within Finance or Monetization parts of consumer-facing products.
• Strong understanding of unit economy, pricing models, budgeting, forecasting, cost management and multi-currency workflows.
• Mandatory data usage practices to inform priorities and evaluate impact of initiatives, taking care of both ‘what’ and ‘why'.
• Thoughtful context shifting to utilize a balanced blend of technical knowledge with customer-focused mindset and empathy.
• Ability to build strong relationships, influence without authority, and lead cross-functional teams.
• Work closely with the Payment Operations and Fraud teams to identify business opportunities and deliver them in a secure and compliant way.
• Experience working with ML/AI-enabled products is a plus.

About The Team
We are responsible for the overall health, performance, and scaling of server equipment and networks in our data centers all around the world.

Responsibilities
• Hardware Operations: Perform upgrades, repairs, and maintenance on company server equipment in data centers (both remotely via “remote hands” support and through on-site business trips)
• Logistics & Procurement: Manage the procurement and global logistics of necessary components and spare parts for servers and network equipment
• Vendor Management: Act as the point of contact for colocation data centers and network service providers
• Asset Management: Perform hardware discovery, track inventory, and maintain accurate equipment data in our configuration database (DCIM/CMDB)
• Security Compliance: Ensure all hardware and data center operations comply with the company’s security policies
