Why this role matters
The Compliance/AML Officer is an independent individual contributor based within the centralized Compliance department, responsible for executing day-to-day Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) prevention, detection, and control monitoring activities across the Group. Sitting at an experienced specialist level, the role applies technical subject-matter expertise to transaction monitoring, complex case investigations, customer due diligence (CDD/EDD), and sanctions screening across our retail brokerage, trading, and payment flows. The primary objective is to safeguard the organization against financial crime risks, ensure strict adherence to applicable multi-jurisdictional regulatory obligations, resolve operational compliance matters with sound independent judgment, and support consistent Group-wide compliance standards across licensed entities.
What you'll actually do
• Monitor, evaluate, and investigate alert queues generated by automated transaction monitoring systems, identifying abnormal transaction volumes, rapid movement of funds, unusual CFD/FX trading patterns, and red flags indicating potential money laundering or terrorist financing.
• Conduct end-to-end factual investigations on complex escalated accounts, analyze underlying transactional records and customer behaviors, document objective findings, and prepare comprehensive internal investigation dossiers and draft Suspicious Activity/Transaction Reports (SARs/STRs) for MLRO review.
• Conduct thorough Enhanced Due Diligence reviews on escalated high-risk retail and corporate accounts, including Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), high-net-worth clients, complex corporate shareholding structures, and customers operating in higher-risk jurisdictions.
• Critically evaluate and verify Source of Wealth (SoW) and Source of Funds (SoF) documentation against operational risk thresholds, issuing clear, risk-based determinations regarding account approvals, transactional limits, account restrictions, or offboarding recommendations.
• Review and resolve system-generated screening alerts related to global sanctions regimes (e.g., OFAC, EU, UN, UK/OFSI), PEP databases, and adverse media hits across prospective and existing clients, payment counterparties, and ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs).
• Perform detailed secondary reviews on potential matches to eliminate false positives systematically, ensure strict adherence to international sanctions frameworks, and immediately escalate verified or sensitive sanctions nexus cases to senior management.
• Conduct regular thematic testing, quality spot checks, and control monitoring across client onboarding, account management, and payment processing functions to verify that internal AML/CTF controls operate effectively.
• Identify control deficiencies, recurring operational bottlenecks, or regulatory gaps in day-to-day operations; collaborate with operational stakeholders to recommend practical remediation steps and track corrective actions to completion
• Coordinate on an ongoing basis with designated regional Compliance Officers across the Group’s licensed entities to ensure consistent application of baseline Group AML policies while taking into account entity-specific license conditions and local statutory requirements.
• Provide practical, prompt compliance guidance and procedural interpretations to front-line operational units—including Customer Support, Onboarding, Payments, and Dealing operations—on routine and moderately complex AML/CTF matters.
• Maintain comprehensive, fully traceable, and audit-ready investigation files, decision logs, and case management records in strict accordance with statutory retention periods and Group documentation standards.
• Collate operational metrics, sample files, and case summaries to support internal compliance monitoring, external regulatory examinations, and annual financial crime audits.
Who we’re looking for
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, Criminology, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional certification in AML or Financial Crime Compliance (e.g., ACAMS CAMS, ICA Certificate/Diploma in AML, or CySEC Advanced / equivalent regulatory certification) is strongly preferred.
• Documented participation in continuing professional education regarding international financial crime regulations, sanctions regimes, or AML risk typologies.
• Approximately 5 to 7 years of hands-on operational compliance experience focused on AML/CTF, transaction monitoring, or financial crime investigations.
• Relevant professional background in a regulated online brokerage, CFD/FX trading platform, fintech, digital payments institution, or high-volume financial services company.
• Proven track record of operating independently on standard and moderately complex financial crime reviews with minimal day-to-day supervision
• Strong technical working knowledge of AML, CTF, CDD/EDD principles, Sanctions enforcement frameworks, and international standards (FATF, EU AML Directives, CySEC, FCA, or comparable regulatory environments).

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Holder of Bachelor Degree
At least 5 years of experience in a Corporate Administrator role at a law firm or corporate service providing companies
Fluency in English written and verbal. Fluency in Russian and Greek language will be considered as a major advantage
Computer literacy and good command of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.)
Strong attention to details skills
Excellent time-management and organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills
Team player, positive attitude, and approachable personality
Credibility and high integrity of character

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining corporate files and filing
Drafting internal documents including resolutions/minutes
Correspondence with clients via email/telephone
Working with local authorities, banks, agents worldwide, tax office, Registrar of Companies
Completing Registrar of Companies forms
Liaising with Financial Institutions regarding the opening of Client Bank Accounts
Answer phones, working with couriers
